19e MEDIËVISTENDAG / 19th MEDIEVAL STUDIES DAY
CITY CULTURE AND THE TRANSMISSION AND EXPLOITATION OF KNOWLEDGE

 

Geachte mediëvist,
Op vrijdag 15 november 2013 houdt de Onderzoekschool Mediëvistiek in samenwerking met de Vlaamse Werkgroep Mediëvistiek de jaarlijkse Mediëvistendag, die dit jaar in Deventer plaats zal vinden. Deze negentiende dag wordt georganiseerd door de mediëvistische onderzoeksgroep van de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen en het secretariaat van de Vlaamse Werkgroep Mediëvistiek.

Het programma omvat drie plenaire lezingen (in het Engels) rond het thema ‘City Culture and the Transmission and Exploitation of Knowledge’. Sprekers: prof. Sita Steckel (Münster, onder voorbehoud), dr. Samuel Mareel (Gent) en dr. Suzan Folkerts (Groningen). Voorts  presenteren – vooral pas aangestelde – promovendi hun onderzoek. De Onderzoekschool wil met deze presentaties jonge onderzoekers stimuleren om in contact te komen met gevestigde mediëvisten. Bovendien bieden de presentaties een mooie kans om feedback te krijgen. Een voorlopig programma vindt u in de bijlage.

Voor promovendi en researchmasterstudenten die door hun Faculteit bij de onderzoekschool zijn aangemeld is de deelname gratis.

Dear medievalist,
On 15 November 2013, the Research School for Medieval Studies, together with the Flemish Medievalist Association, will be holding the annual Medieval Studies Day, this time in Deventer. The organisation is in the hands of the medievalists from the University of Groningen and the secretariat of the Flemish Medievalist Association. During the day, three lectures (in English) are scheduled that address the topic ‘City Culture and the Transmission and Exploitation of Knowledge’. Speakers: Prof. Sita Steckel (Münster, to be confirmed) , Dr. Samuel Mareel (Gent) and Dr. Suzan Folkerts (Groningen). Furthermore, (mostly newly appointed) PhD students will present their research projects. With these presentations the Research School aims to stimulate young researchers to get in touch with established medievalists. Moreover, the presentations offer the opportunity to receive feedback. A provisional programme is to be found in the attachment.
